Showing God's Love In a Practical Way

SE Project: Feeding the Firefighters

By Alex Nagy |  December 21, 2009

On the 19th of December, a group of about 20 church members made a fresh, hot meal of chili's, soups and deserts for our firemen (and women) at Station 1 and Station 2 in McMinnville, TN. We even got to surprise one of them with a day early birthday cake so he could celebrate that special occasion with his brothers at the firehouse. As an unexpected treat, we got a tour of both firehouses in return (a short one, to be sure).

In addition to the food we brought them, we also had a gift bag for them containing some practical items including a Fireman's bible picked out by the head of our Servant Evangelism ministry. It was definitely nice getting to know our firefighters and being able to show them how much we appreciate what they do for us each and every day. It was also nice hearing from them how much they appreciated this simple gesture. You could see it in the way they acted, laughed with us, and even in their voices as they spoke and wished us a good night as we left.
Personally I'm praying that we'll get to do something like this again for them. (:
